About Circle of the Moon

Based near Manchester in the United Kingdom, Circle of the Moon is a teaching coven with roots in both hereditary and eclectic Witchcraft. We have a strong emphasis on the healing arts and our members are encouraged to learn some form of energy therapy.

The current High Priestess and High Priest of Circle of the Moon are Heathwitch and ShadowBear (respectively).

Our tradition includes the right of an individual to practice their Craft according to their own personal rede. Magic and ritual performed within the coven adheres to series of consensual correspondences. While the High Priestess and High Priest lead the coven it is strongly promoted that they are the first among equals. Outside of coven situations, solitary practice among members is encouraged in order for them to progress along their own path of personal and spiritual development.

Both practical and theoretical aspects of Witchcraft are taught within a safe and supportive environment. With an underlying foundation in energy work, coven members are encouraged to progress through a five-tiered, fully mentored course system. This includes a variety of topics including natural Witchcraft, history and society, healing and basic counselling, paranormal investigation and divination, laws and ethics, meditation and creative visualisation, and other areas relevant to the Witch in modern society.

We are an informal coven and like to meet for ritual events and social functions alike. The heart of the coven resides in the Longdendale countryside, and we gather to celebrate the esbats and sabbats, and also for the odd party and outing.

While we recognise Wicca's influence in the acceptance of Witchcraft in society today, we do not define ourselves as Wiccan and are not associated with either Gardnarian or Alexandrian traditions. Certain elements of Wicca are incorporated into our practice and teachings, along with Native American wisdom and aspects of the High Priest's family tradition. As a coven we link strongly with land-based deity in our local area, and our members connect with deities from different pantheons around the world.
